According to a source, “The set caught fire at around 8 in the morning. It was sparked by a live wire. Nobody was hurt.”
The cast was not present at the time of the incident.
The source revealed, "The spot boys and light men were arranging the lights for the recording when the fire broke out.” The source added that almost the whole set was on fire when fire brigade arrived and controlled the fire. Confirming the news, the Colors spokesperson said, "Yes. An unfortunate accident took place on the sets of Comedy Nights With Kapil. But no major damage occurred. It was just a small fire in the costume and make up room." The host of the show, Kapil Sharma was unavailable for comment as his phone was switched off. Singer Sonu Nigam and child comedian Saloni were scheduled to visit the sets of Comedy Nights With Kapil on Wednesday. Unaware of the incident, host Kapil Sharma wrote on Facebook, “Bye bye Kolkata...had a blast night with Vodafone employees..nw its shoot in mumbai wid my favourite Sonu Nigam.” (sic) Almost the whole of Bollywood has been spotted on the sets of Comedy Nights With Kapil. While Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone visited the sets twice to promote Chennai Express, Sonakshi Sinha came to promote her two films Lootera and Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara on the sets of Comedy Nights With Kapil
